Supermarket Sweep 2016

Our high school group looks forward to our annual supermarket sweep each year. We ventured to Fairway Market this year and had 15 items to find on our list. First, we spent time making a guess at how much each item might be and totaled the amount. We used our google maps app to navigate our walking directions to the store and went through each section of the store to find our listed items. We practiced weighing our produce to estimate the cost and when we couldn't find something, it was excellent practice to ask a store associate. Many members were surprised at the cost of certain foods and felt they would

think differently about grocery shopping in the future. This awareness of budgeting is very key to developing member independence and we look forward to doing more activities like this in the future!
