Summer Program: Session One Recap

What a great first week Teenz In The City had at our summer program! A new initiatve we implemented this summer is a theme week, based on a particular skill we are focusing on specifically. This week's theme was communication and our members got to know one another using table chatting cards, icebreakers and engaging in many fun outings together. This weekly focus will continue into our school year as well and is something we feel will truly benefit our members.
During session one we went to Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium in Times Square, Chinatown for dumplings and the fun fair arcade, a soup kitchen in the East Village to help the homeless, bowling at Bowlmor Lanes and the High Line. Our members enjoyed helping out at the soup kitchen, which was a first for the members in attendance. It was such a good experience that we will be returning to that soup kitchen during session four. It was a wonderful first week and we look forward to continuing our summer program with more fun, developing friendships and increasing our members' confidence levels in their independence!
