Feeling Festive at the Holiday Market
Our Girls group had a great outing this past weekend getting into the holiday spirit at the Union Square holiday market. The group met at our usual meeting spot, and used the Moovit app to determine the most efficient travel route to get to the market. Our members' decided on taking the 4,5 express train downtown from 86th street, which the app determined would be the quickest way to arrive in Union Square. Upon arrival at the market, our members' explored the market sampling delicious chocolates and baked goods, shopped for holiday gifts for family members and sipping on hot chocolate to stay warm on this chilly winter day. Most importantly, members tried to make sure they remained within their own budget of money they had in their wallets. This is always a challenge and something members are continuing to work on each week.
After exploring the market, we headed to Pie by the Pound which was only a few blocks away to warm up, eat some delicious pizza, and play some board games together. While at the restaurant, members engaged in fun games such as Connect Four and Jenga, while engaging each other in friendly conversation about the upcoming school break and how they will spend it. It was nice to interact with the teen co-ed group as well, who also had lunch at the restaurant at the same time. Our members' enjoyed talking with new friends and continue to work on how to appropriately engage with new people with the guidance of our group facilitators.
We look forward to Friday night for the final Teenz Night of the fall semester...a holiday party!
