1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8....we had a dance date!

This Sunday, we all gathered at our usual meeting spot on the Upper East Side. We engaged the girls in a discussion on what the best route would be and used google to find that there are four different locations of Ripley-Grier's dance studio. We figured that we need to head south west and used the Moovit app to figure out the best route. It was decided that we would take the Q, the new 2nd Ave. subway. As we entered the subway station, we learned about one of the mural artists, Chuck Close, and what makes him special. On our way, our members talked about their weekends and what they have coming up and what they are excited about. We even saw some live music underground!

We made our way downtown on the Q train to the 57th street stop. We needed some fuel before our studio time, so we all agreed on a small cafe. We were able to use our budgets to decide on what we could purchase. After this, we were pumped up and ready to dance! We walked west, and leaned how to understand what side of the street an address is, we learned that west

side of the avenue had odd numbers and the east even. We made our way up the stairs to our own private studio, where our amazing teacher gathered all of our song requests, and she helped us develop a routine in an 8-count. We practiced, sweat, created, and just had some good ole fun! Some of us even added our own twists to our free dance time. We spent an hour perfecting our moves and became more comfortable with the routine with repetitive practice. After the dance class, we headed back to the upper east side, and when we missed the Q train, and problem solved and decided that we would re-route to the 4/5/6 train back uptown. It was a great way to warm up on such a frigid day! Hope to see you all again next weekend. Till then. 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8....practice practice! >
