Summer Session One: Kicking off Summer with Great Company, Laughs & Smiles

This week was the start of our Teenz In The City Summer Session! Our members had a great time kicking off the session at Cool Mess where they got to create their very own ice cream. Though it was raining, our members had fun socializing with one another and enjoying their creations at Cool Mess.

On Tuesday, our teenz went to the Central Park Zoo! We watched the sea lion and seal feedings and checked out the tropical birds, grizzly bear and snow leopard exhibits. We enjoyed luck at the zoo cafeteria and played Uno and Heads Up, a game where you select a category and players give you clues as to what is the word or name you are holding. We ended the day eating Dippin Dots and playing another round of Uno.

We kick started Wednesday with a ride on the Beast Speedboat ride! Our members

had such a fun time and also got a little wet! Riding the Beast Speedboat was a blast. It was perfect weather and we sang and danced along with the music. We had such a fun time eating lunch at the pier and had a cold stone as a snack after session. We engaged with one another while playing Heads Up. Later that night, our first Teenz Night took place at the North River Lobster Company. We enjoyed the breathtaking views of the sunset over the water. We enjoyed hamburgers, salad, and oysters on board. It was such a fun experience for everyone.

Finally, we ended the week giving back to the community by volunteering our time at St. Joseph's Soup Kitchen. Our teenz were assigned tasks such as refilling coffee and serving soup and bread to the homeless. They were commended for their quick service and serving everyone with a smile. After session, we ate lunch at Rubirosa and had delicious pizza! We focused this week on enhancing our navigational skills by reviewing our NSEW acronym and following our transit apps for directions. We look forward to next week's session and cannot wait for all the fun we will have!
