Summer Session Two: It was a Home Run!
This week concluded our second week of summer session here at Teenz In The City! Our members spent Monday at the Meat Packing District and the Highline on our food tour. We enjoyed various foods including crepes, donuts, pineapple ice cream, spinach & artichoke pizza, and fried oreos! Many of our members explored and expanded their palette and tried new foods for the first time this week. On Tuesday, our teenz navigated their way to the heart of the Big Apple and took a bite out of Time Square. We enjoyed a delicious pizza lunch and spent our afternoon bowling at Bowlmor Lanes. On Wednesday, we enjoyed our time at Yankee Stadium where we watched the Yankees play the Detroit Tigers. Although it was raining and the game was delayed, we still had a lot of fun rooting for the Yankees and looking at the merchandise at the Yankee Store! On Thursday for member's choice, our teenz decided to have lunch at Gyu Kaku where they were able to cook their own food and finished off the session singing their hearts out at karaoke!
This week we paid special attention to sticking to our budget and set individual goals for ourselves. Before every session, our members discussed the directions to get to each of our destinations. One member would act as a leader for the day and directed the group. Our members reinforced their navigational skills by reviewing their NSEW acronym and familiarizing themselves with uptown and downtown locations. In addition, our teenz members each set a budget limit to spend within their means for each day. This week was filled with many smiles, laughs, and lots of memories. We are so excited for next weeks outing!
