Smorgasburg Food Fest

This past Sunday Teenz In The City enjoyed a fun day in Williamsburg, Brooklyn experiencing the popular Smorgasburg food festival! Unfortunately when our members arrived to our meeting spot in the morning, we were greeted by some unexpected rain showers. Therefore, we engaged the group in an important problem solving discussion about the weather and prompted them to utilize weather apps on their i-phones to determine the forecast for the day in order to see if an alternative indoor outing needed to be planned. After discussing the weather, our members voted on going to Brooklyn despite the current rain, as it looked like it would clear shortly. We prompted our members to use Google maps to determine the most effective travel route to Brooklyn and decided to take the 6 train to Union Square and then transfer to the L to train to Bedford Ave. Upon arrival to Brooklyn, two of our members were appointed travel leaders and used Google maps walking directions to guide us to Smorgasburg. When we arrived, the group explored the various food vendors and were impressed by their limitless suggestions. The food vendors had options from all over the world and even sweeter desserts! We engaged the group in important discussion regarding their individual budgets and sticking within their budget while selecting their lunch. All members enjoyed their delicious lunches while engaging in friendly conversation with one another.

After lunch, the group decided to take the New York City water taxi back to Manhattan. Members each had to purchase their own ticket from the machine and boarded the ferry with excitement. While on the ferry, members were asked what their favorite part of the day was and what food they would recommend to anyone they knew going to Smorgasburg in the future. While back in Manhattan, members used our north east south west acronym guide them back to Bread and Butter. It was a awesome day filled with culture, fun, friendships and of course delicious food!
